Greetings Fellow Intellectuals,
My name is Maribel and I am a first year attending the University of California in Irvine as a double major in Criminology, Law, and Society and English.
I chose these majors as my areas of study because I believe one of the great things about being human is our ability to react. I'm studying Criminology as a way to understand the way criminals, and other abusers of the law react to certain circumstances which they have found themselves in. That is what I believe makes a criminal: a negative reaction to their environment and situations in which they have been placed. Similarly, I believe that the English major and all of who it encompasses- writers, editors, critics, journalists- are all displaying to the world their reactions to events that are of prominent interest or concern in their time periods.
Having said all of this, I find that my blog will be a series of reactions to not only the topic of War, but also the different ways in which my professors present war, my response to the novels or videos assign during this course, and even a response to my fellow classmates' responses to War.
